Natalie Barahona's "Sipping" from John Casey on Vimeo.
This short but sweet study is a slice of life (or, perhaps, a slice of lemon) of a character created and animated by Natalie Barahona, at The Art Institute of Boston.
Natalie Barahona's "(brownout)" from John Casey on Vimeo.
This is a fine example of an "animatic," a pre-production, timed, moving storyboard, in this case with most of the final sound. This piece is untitled but we might give it the working title of "(brownout)" until Natalie Barahona finishes it, given that she has been busy as an animator since she graduated from The Art Institute of Boston. Geoff Marian's "Falling" from John Casey on Vimeo.
In this animated short, one of the raindrops cries "rain, rain, go away." Here, the dialog and its timing are both creatively conceived and professionally crafted. This witty character animation piece was produced in Maya by Geoff Marian at The Art Institute of Boston.
Jesper Hansson's "Seagullcow" "Harry" from John Casey on Vimeo.
Three animated pieces by Jesper Hansson, produced at The Art Institute of Boston: "Seagullcow," a strange mix of a creature feeding on the beach; "Harry and the Devil" and "Harry and the Cat" about Harry, who has way more than a bit of the devil in him. The "seagull-cow" is an excellent example of traditional "full animation" based on precisely crafted traits of an invented character.
Geoff Marian's "Groundwork" from John Casey on Vimeo.
A stop-motion animation combined with painted sequence animation, produced by Geoff Marian at The Art Institute of Boston. Here's the ephemeral yet repetitive nature of the news and the human condition, in a sense published as "the news on the ground."
Alex Cormack's "MorphMushMash" from John Casey on Vimeo.
A wildly animated burst of the emotions (or something quite more.....) made by Alex Cormack at The Art Institute of Boston. This is definitely volcanic.
Caleb Lemotte's "Residual" from John Casey on Vimeo.
"Residual" is a stop-motion puppet animation (with some digital effects) produced at The Art Institute of Boston by Caleb Lemotte. A character finds himself at a curious subway stop, the sort one may actually find in New York City, and perhaps now in post-Big-Dig Boston.
